HSI is proud that our heating ribbons are part of a unique solution for climate resilient infrastructure.

Cold weather and road cracking:

Cold weather causes with road cracking severe damage to infrastructure. With as result traffic disturbances and increased downtime for logistic assets. It results in enormous economic losses besides the safety hazards.
Road cracking is a common problem for which there was no efficient solution…..until today.

HSI partnering in Snowless consortium

Snowless®’s unique heating system prevents cracking of asphalt with its real-time reactive, autonomous temperature control technology. The system’s operation process guarantees superior energy efficiency.
In our latest project, performed at TRIWO AG in Edenkoben, we have provided a preliminary cracking prevention solution, based on our fast-responding heating ribbons, in combination with a smart control unit that can predict the crucial moment of cracking.

A winning team

A perfect pair with the new developed asphalt of IBQ; their asphalt in combination with our heating solution combines the best for all seasons in road pavements.
This solution is not only a game-changer in the field of safety and maintenance cost saving. By improving the infrastructure repaving cycle- we can ensure a better life cycle and waste reduction, a great example of sustainable, energy saving, heating for safe roads. A great contribution needed in these times of climate change.

Meet our partners:

Only the great team effort with the additional expertise of partners like DTU , and VSV  can come to such generation changing solutions.

Robust Field Heating system

Recently a major flooding covered the heated fields of MSU. All heated fields were completely flooded during several days. Although water and electricity do not mix, the HSI heating systems have proved that they are resistant against extreme weather conditions. The installation of the heating systems at MSU was completed in 2015.

We refer to the Detroit newspapers for more information about the MSU field heating systems.

Prevention against high costs for new or the adaption of existing technical buildings, prevention against demolition by vandalism or as a result of accidents during sports practice or just insurance that your investment has led to the best possible environment, just a few reasons to have the control unit for your field heating system installed in a purpose built container. This solution, which meets the high standards applicable to the installation of electrical equipment, was developed by HSI in 2016. The rollout of two prototype containers for European projects was also achieved in the same year. The images included give overall and detailed information about this solution.

HSI has commissioned engineering consultants Peutz to draw up an attestation of equivalence in conformity with the NEN7120 standard. Their research concludes that the HSI floor heating is up to 60% more efficient in comparison to traditional underfloor (water) heating, justifying the related
output yield of 1.5 ȠH;em.

The attestation of equivalence has been listed in the ISSO database.

Pilot strawberry heating

This month we started our second pilot with direct exposure of strawberries to radiant heat. The first pilot has proved that application of our heating ribbons results in an equal harvest on the inside and outside of the plants despite the fact that the strawberries on the inner side of plants benefit less of direct sunlight.

The goal of this pilot is to ascertain the optimum amount of energy for the best result.

The pilot will run into the next year. Harvesting period: November-February.
